Road Opening Announcement and. Lowell Point Water Taxi Schedule for May 22 thru June 8, 2022

The City of Seward and Kenai Peninsula Borough have announced they intend to open Lowell Point Road at Noon on Friday, May 27, 2022, and it will remain open through Monday, May 30.

The road will then have daily closures between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. through Thursday, June 2, 2022. While inconvenient, you will no longer have to deal with a closed road the rest of the time.

Although we do not have information beyond June 2 at this time, we believe that while there may be some daily closures to contend with and plan around, the road will remain open. There will be water taxi options as well however between Saturday, May. 28 and Monday, May 30 there will be no free water taxis but water taxis will be running. Beginning Tuesday, May 31, the only free water taxis will be during road closures.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The arrangements below have been made and contracted by the Kenai Peninsula Borough and the State of Alaska through June 8, 2022.
We’ll start by saying that there are other water taxi options in addition to the ones providing the contracted services (look at the bottom of this post for suggestions of other vendors). The two vendors below are contracted to offer scheduled runs. All other options would be charter options and may require a minimum number of travelers. We will try to assist you in coordinating a minimum whenever we can.
Please note that both water taxis require reservations and that these services are free of charge to those who live and work on Lowell Point. Those individuals who are scheduling nonessential travel (visitors) to Lowell Point will need to pay for their transportation through a water taxi service provider unless there is an open seat on an Aurora Charter taxi.  Visitors or tourism transport is not eligible for free service but empty seats will be filled at no cost.
Below are the two vendors, the schedules, prices, and reservation instructions.
